Note: CVJM=YMCA

CVJM = Christlicher Verein Junger Menschen = Young People’s Christian Association = YMCA more-or-less, but it's different in Germany!

My first Goodbies - Week 22

Yes I know that's not how you spell goodbyes but I thought I'd somewhat childishly hint at the fact I'm well and truly starting to lose my English; German is King, by now.

Speaking of English, I said my goodbyes to the (equivalent year 6...or 7, actually - hard to define!) kids I have been teaching English to/doing English club for for the past few months. Quite sad in a way, and to think of how all my teachers - and all teachers ever - go through that every year.

Next week, schools in Brandenburg (our 'county' or 'Bundesland'as it's called here) have holidays next week, then the second half of the year kicks off (interesting difference, at Unis and schools in Germany the year works in halves, Semesters, unlike (y)our Trimesters in England). For the second half of the year I will be teaching the class below (which should hopefully be refreshing in that there they know much less grammar, so I shan't hopefully fall into the trap, as I have done, of focussing on preparing the best grammar practice exercises, but rather use more games, be creative, and really use this opportunity (thank you school!) to explore what's possible, and better judge whether I'd like to teach later in life.

To think there's a whole lot of other goodbyes waiting for me in August...Mannomanno as the Germans say (i.e. maaan! + emphasis)
